The young pianist’s concert enchanted the audience.
It is tradition that in the program of Armonie in Valcerrina the church Sant’Agata of Pontestura welcomes great solo pianists: just think of the performances of the English Grosvenor, the Iranian Baharami, the Norwegian Sigfridsson, of highly trained Russian graduates from the Moscow Conservatory, including Vadym Kholodenko absent for the well-known reasons.
Young Italian promises
In their careful choices, Gian Paolo and Anna Bardazza began to insert young Italian promises, including Alberto Ferro and Beatrice Rana who supported in the best way the comparison with foreign artists.
This year it was the turn of Elia Cecino and Saturday, in Sant’Agata there was waiting among the spectators, some from afar, to attend the performance of this 22-year-old pianist with an extraordinary series of consents, in particular for his excellent interpretations of music by Chopin and Beethoven, so as to be classified among the greatest pianists of the new generation.
In the program of Pontestura, Elia did not include pieces of the famous musicians whose interpretation had been rewarded and in the opening he performed the sonata 1.X.1905 in two movements of Janacek, a Czech composer attentive collector of popular songs of Moravia, which was celebrated at home more as a nationalist intellectual than for its music.
In the sonata performed without pause a melody emerges, present throughout the piece, sometimes just mentioned, others strongly enhanced by the intense interpretation of Elia. Also in the subsequent Sz Sonata. 80 of Bela Bartok in the times cheerful moderate, sustained and heavy, very cheerful, composed with a style clearly different from Janacek you can hear the echo of popular songs, in this case belonging to the Hungarian folklore that Bela Bartok. The interpretation of Cecino was safe and flawless.
A CD is in preparation
Of the romantic Robert Schumann, of which Elia has a whole CD in preparation, Fantasie dell’opera 111 composed during the difficult period of the musician’s life who suffered from recurrent mental disorders were performed. Symphonic Studies op. 13, among the most important works of Schumann, some played with impressive speed so as to recall the early interpretations of Maurizio Pollini, and a grand finale of “hope”, interpreted brilliantly and long applauded.
The audience showed to share the predictions indicating Cecino among the future stars of excellent pianists.
At the end participants were given the opportunity to buy the CDs of Elia whose proceeds will be donated to the purchase of a piano for young musicians of Bucharest.
