Published by IBS Classical, in the wake of the triumphs at competitions. The next one will pay homage to Schumann. «I broaden my repertoire»
Another important step in the extraordinary artistic path of Elia Cecino, 23-year-old pianist from Casale sul Sile, who has just released his third CD, “Brahms Piano Works”, which he defines as «a journey through three milestones of Johannes Brahms’ piano production».
A record produced by the label IBS Classical, following one of his countless victories in international piano competitions, the Iturbi International Piano Competition 2023 in Valencia (where, among other things, he also swept the board with special prizes), already available on the main online music platforms and soon in record stores.
Cecino recorded it last summer in Granada and also participated in its editing, with the same commitment and perfectionism that he dedicates to his interpretations
And it is, as he explains, a very different album from his first two, recorded a few months apart in 2020.
«It was for me, at 19 years old, a new experience, during the pandemic and the suspension of concert activity. So I approached it with such curiosity and enthusiasm, and also with a repertoire that was familiar to me. For this recording, I felt a great responsibility, also because I had carte blanche regarding the program and I thought of a business card that would represent me drawing from my current favorite repertoire. But I don’t find it comfortable to crystallize the choices and interpretation of a moment in a CD, since I am always striving towards evolution and already now I realize that I perform those pieces differently”.
Demanding, scrupulous, reflective: Cecino’s character is perceived when he plays as well as when he explains his way of living music.
«This album represents a dialogue with the expressive power of Brahms’ music, which is involving me a lot, but also a long moment in which I played alone in a studio, while I love “feeling” the audience during concerts».
But he immediately adds: “I am now participating in the editing of another album, which I recorded a few weeks ago at Fazioli Concert Hall in Sacile and which, I believe, will be released in autumn with the Dutch label Piano Classics. It will be entirely dedicated to Robert Schumann, and this time too the recording has led me to deepen and expand my repertoire.
Well, maybe at this moment I find preparatory study much more stimulating than the actual recording of an album, since it offers me further ideas for growth».
